What to do with your toddler? | Franklin County, Missouri

Time with your toddlers are at times challenging. This will be a more hands on read and a shorter read. I am sitting with the windows open and the beautiful breeze has me thinking fall will soon be here. Are you a fan of fall weather?

Talking walks with your little can be challenging especially if you want a quiet walk and they want to run. I have a tip. Go around nap time, Put your little one in the stroller. Grab their blanket and favorite stuffy. While walking you and your child can play a few games until those eyes get heavy and they doze off to sleep.

A few games you can play is I spy. Example I spy a puppy, can you spy the puppy? Can you find the red stop sign or can you find a circle. This is a great way to teach something fun without it feeling like you are actually teaching. Your child will find this fun and a game. Do you have a activity that you enjoy playing while you are on your walk, share with us in the comments.

With the weather becoming warmer and the older kids in school, this allows those baseball fields open. Grab the ball and mitt and play ball. Head to the park and play on the equipment that is offered at your local park. Pack a picnic and a book and sit under a tree and just be with your little one and read a book and eat your lunch. Once you are finished you can pack up and head home for a nice nap. I know when I am outside and enjoying the weather I am ready for a nice nap with the windows open and the Alexa playing soothing sounds. What do you enjoy about being outside as an adult? Share these interest with your child. I know my kids loved to help me in the garden and as my youngest having her own backyard these days she loves being outside. When you find something you enjoy and share it with your child you are teaching them fun ways to enjoy what you enjoy which in turn makes you both happy. Keep in mind, They are young and learning so things will not be done exactly like we expect but getting out there and teaching and spending time with one another is something that means more to your child then you will ever know. Let me know what you are getting outside and doing in the comments.

Weather will turn and we will have them colder days and some days will bring us rain. I have some indoor activities you both are sure to enjoy! Are you ready…

You wake up and your outdoor plans are a bust as it is raining. No worries, Finger painting is fun and can create some fun art to hang on your walls. My kids always loved when we did shaving cream art. I would grab out plastic table cover and spray a bunch of shaving cream on the table. I would have one kid on the left side of the table and across the table on the right I would put the other. Less arguing. They could grab their toy cars to make a road and drive in the snow of shaving cream, draw in the shaving cream and make shaving cream art. There were days we would head outside without rain boots and dance in the rain, play in the puddles and look for worms in the garden. Let their imaginations go. Picnic in the living room under a chair fort makes for a fun lunch. What is your rainy day activity, let me know in the comments below.
